Mariah Roberts knows the art of baking at Beach Pea (Portsmouth Herald)

Food was once art, before boxing, bagging and freeze-dried. Occasionally you come across a place that still makes it so. Beach Pea Bakery in Kittery, Maine, owned by Mariah and Tom Roberts, is such a place by design.

Monday Close-up: Sweet temptations (Provo Daily Herald)

As a small child, Megan Faulkner Brown would sidele up to the kitchen counter to watch her mother back. Sweet scents escaped from the oven, awakening her sweet tooth. She was never too young to learn the art of baking. Through the years, her mother taught her the feel of a perfectly cooked brownie and the right golden color of a chocolate chip cookie.

What’s cookin? Zucchini, Chocolate, and Preacher’s Fried Okra (The Daily Sentinel)
